Lindsey M. Deeb, APRN, CNP

Lindsey received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of California San Francisco. Her special interests include behavioral health, adolescent health care, and childhood obesity.

Lindsey's past pediatric experience includes several years working with behaviorally and emotionally challenged children and adolescents, and several years working as an RN and case manager for children with cancer and heart problems.

Originally from the Midwest, Lindsey now lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two children. Lindsey believes in family centered health promotion and prevention and is excited to follow in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Dr. Jane Van Roekel, the founder of Dakota Pediatric Clinic.



Melissa S. Heinonen, APRN, CNP

Melissa received her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Washington, in Seattle. Prior to attending graduate school, Melissa worked as a pediatric nurse taking care of patients with a variety of illnesses and inures including diabetes, asthma, orthopedic trauma, cancer, kidney and stomach problems. Melissa's special interests include asthma, childhood obesity, adolescent health care, young women's/women's health, and family health.

Melissa lives in Minneapolis with her husband and their two dogs. She spends her free time doing yoga, swimming, reading and cooking with her husband. She enjoys working with pediatrics because she believes in family centered health care and promotion and enjoys watching her patients develop and grow


Michelle Ohnstad, DNP, APRN, CNP

Michelle chose to become a pediatric nurse practitioner because she loves working with children and their families. She enjoys partnering with families to determine the best possible preventative care and treatment methods. Her dream is to someday be treating the children of patients who have graduated from her care.

Michelle enjoys seeing patients of all ages; from the adorable smiles of an infant, the curiosity of a toddler, and the excitement of a school-ager, all the way to the fierce independence of an adolescent/young adult. They all bring so much to Michelle's practice and for that she is grateful.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and her black lab, Payton. They like to do anything outside with some favorites being hiking, biking, outdoor music shows, and for relaxation some good old-fashioned grilling with friends. She is also an avid reader and loves to listen to most any music.


Aemelia Tallen-Whited, APRN, CNP

Aemelia is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a degree from Yale University. Aemelia's work in international maternal and child health in Africa inspired her to pursue a career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Aemelia is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a genuine love for assisting the breastfeeding family through teaching, guidance and hands-on lactation support. Her special clinical interests include: child development, asthma care and management, obesity and nutritional support, parenting, and care of the newborn.

Although, originally from Saint Paul, Aemelia has spent the last six years living and working in Chicago. She is thrilled to finally be back in the Twin Cities and now lives in South Minneapolis with her husband, young daughter and two dogs. Aemelia loves reading, going for hikes, celebrating Pizza Fridays and rediscovering the world through her daughter's delightfully curious eyes. She finds nothing more humbling and more delightful than being a mother.


Brett Mortenson, DNP, APRN, CNP

Brett is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, with a doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Arizona, in Tucson. Brett enjoys caring for children of all ages. His goal is to help children and families lead healthy and well-rounded lives. This includes being an advocate for mental and physical health.

Brett is originally from Shoreview, MN. He spent many years working in San Diego, California and recently returned to Minnesota because he believes Minnesota is the best place to raise children. Currently he and his wife live in Woodbury, with their two children. His best days are spent playing outside with his family. He also enjoys biking, camping, hiking or just playing inside with Legos or dolls with the kids!


Stephanie Kimmes APRN, CNP

Stephanie received her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of MN-Twin Cities, board-certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, in 2001. She has cared for children and adolescents in school, community and clinic-based environments, most recently at the Mayo Clinic in ear, nose and throat and general pediatrics.

While Stephanie loves to care for children of all ages, her special interests include children with complex healthcare needs, developmental delay, mental health concerns, and asthma. She is expanding her practice to include family care this summer as she completes her Family Nurse Practitioner program with an emphasis on women's health at Winona State University - Rochester.

Stephanie and her husband live in the Rochester area and have four daughters and one son. They enjoy hanging out as a family, watching movies, and going on RV camping trips. Always on the go, Stephanie loves the outdoors, gardening and caring for the family's chickens. She dreams of having a hobby farm.
